The City of Livonia is beginning road construction on Lyndon from Stark to Farmington Roads on the eastbound side only.
The contractor will begin removing pavement on the west end of the street on Tuesday, Sept. 20. The EASTBOUND roadway on the south side of the median will be completely closed during the whole construction project.
Traffic WESTBOUND on the north side of the median will remain open but only for WESTBOUND traffic. Do not attempt to go the wrong way against westbound traffic, as the road is completely closed to eastbound traffic. All approaches to Eddie Edgar Ice Arena will be closed. All crossovers through the median will be closed. Keep parked vehicles away from intersections for safety reasons (sight distances, etc.) and allow for turning movements to accommodate garbage trucks and construction equipment.
The work will include the replacement of the street and portions of the driveway approaches. The contractor will begin by removing the old concrete road and driveway approaches. After establishing the new road grade, the contractor will set the forms and pour the new concrete beginning with the street and finishing with the driveway approaches. Once the concrete has been poured, there will be approximately five to seven days of cure time required. During this time, there may be no visible activity taking place.
Construction on the street should take approximately two to three weeks to complete. Restoration, including topsoil and seed, will be performed after the road work has been completed, along with any sprinkler repairs as a result of construction.
We apologize for any inconvenience this will create; however, your cooperation will allow the contractor to complete the project in a timely fashion without significant delays.
