Joy of Painting the Bob Ross Way

Join certified Ross instructor Ted Simpson as he guides you in painting "fluffy clouds" and "happy little trees" during two November sessions. Using the same gentle step-by-step guidance as the PBS icon, Ted will help you create an entire landscape in just a few hours. Complete a finished painting in each session, ready for framing and admiration by friends and family. Each session will focus on the many different ways Bob has spread the Joy of Painting with landscapes that feature strong mountains, tall waterfalls, deep woods, lovely cabins, and big crashing waves.

All supplies are included and no previous experience required. Ages 14+ are welcome and face masks will be required to be worn. The next two sessions meet 6-9 p.m. Nov. 13 and 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 22, both at the Kirksey Recreation Center. Cost is $55 per resident or $60 per non-resident to register, with discounts for Rec Center members. Reserve your spot today!

Building a Better World

In Snapology's "Building a Better World Workshop," children ages 6-14 are challenged to think critically about the world around them. As students identify problems, they will think creatively about how they can use technology to inspire change. Your child is sure to have a blast as they build, learn, and play!

Registration is open now for your little builders to meet 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 14 at the Kirksey Recreation Center. Cost is $55 per resident or $60 per non-resident to register, with discounts for Rec Center members. Face masks will be required to be worn.

Connecting the Rouge

Wayne County Parks wants to hear from you about Connecting the Rouge; which is a project connecting residents to county parks through the Hines Drive Corridor, the Lower Rouge Greenway, and the Rouge River Gateway Greenway. The County is looking for survey feedback (just five questions!) on how the community would like to see features prioritized, connected, and enhanced. The website also gives visitors a chance to toy with an interactive map of the project area where you can mark spots along the three focus areas that may need some accessibility or safety upgrades.

The engagement opportunities will be active through the end of October. Visit www.connectingtherouge.org to participate.
