Demo LivoniaFit Challenge Saturday for free as an Aug. 7 Event Preview

We’re one month away from the LivoniaFit Challenge Aug. 7 at the Kirksey Recreation Center.

If you want to get a taste for it, come out for the last FREE LivoniaFit Challenge Demo Day 10-11 a.m. Saturday, July 24, outdoors (weather permitting) at the Kirksey Recreation Center or in the MAC Gym 1. No membership is required as you’ll practice the drills and exercises we’ll be using Aug. 7. Pre-registration is not required for the demo.

Register for the LivoniaFit Challenge or visit LivoniaParks.org for more information. Contact Scott at sspahr@livonia.gov with any questions on either event.

Lifeguard Shortage Leads to Pool Schedule Changes

Due to limited pool capacities stemming from the national lifeguard shortage, we are adjusting pool hours to both allow our lifeguards to watch over the busiest areas during peak times and for our members and season pass holders to have designated access to some of our outdoor pools during select time frames and take full advantage of their membership or season pass.

Effective July 8, the Lap Pool will be closed 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and close at noon on Saturdays and Sundays.

Effective July 16, the following time blocks will become available for only members and season pass holders. The Kirksey Recreation Center and remaining outdoor pools will maintain full access to residents and non-residents outside of these time blocks:
Fridays – 1-4 p.m. at Botsford Pool; 4-6:45 p.m. at Clements Circle Pool
Saturdays – noon-3 p.m. at Clements Circle Pool; 4-6:45 p.m. at Botsford Pool
Sundays – noon-3 p.m. at Botsford Pool; 4-6:45 p.m. at Clements Circle Pool

We’re attempting to use new and innovative methods to keep our pools running and recruit lifeguards. The sooner we get more lifeguards, the sooner we can expand our capacities and availability. If you’re interested in getting certified, we have a course running from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday-Sunday, July 16-18, at the Kirksey Recreation Center. Email Stephanie at smanoogian@livonia.gov for details and register online.
