Immerse Yourself in Another Era at Guns N Gowns

Join the 17th Michigan Volunteer Regiment Company E for Guns N Gowns 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30 and also 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1.

This free living history event will take place at Greenmead Historical Park. There will be demonstrations of military camp life, drills, musket firing, medical practices, surgery, civilian life, period fashions, phrenology, an amazing display of historical reproduction flags, and much, much more! Stop in the village buildings to see some great exhibits and take a tour as well. This event is a great opportunity for students of all ages to learn about life during the Civil War era.

This month's Rec Center Readers Book Club meets 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, at the Kirksey Recreation Center to discuss “Horse” by Geraldine Brooks. You can find this book at Livonia Public Libraries. There is a $5 fee for non-members. Click here to register.

Join us at Greenmead Historical Park's Newburg School House for a fun afternoon of Halloween-themed stories, snacks, and crafts! Mark your calendars from 2-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3.

The cost is $15 for residents and $17 for non-residents. This event is geared toward ages 4-10, so bring your little ones! Parents are required to stay with their children.
