Winter Break Blast

Looking for extra motivation to stay active during the holiday season? Join the Winter Break Blast at the Kirksey Recreation Center for a fun, low-stress way to keep in shape while connecting with fellow fitness enthusiasts until Saturday, Jan. 4. All classes are open for drop-in participation, and people of all fitness levels are welcome. For every three classes you attend, you'll earn an entry into a prize drawing! Be sure to pick up a punch card from any instructor to track your progress.

Prize options include three Carhartt lunch six-can coolers in black, brown, and navy. The cost per class is $8.75 for members, $11 for residents, and $12.50 for non-residents. For those looking for a bigger commitment, a 10-class punch card is available at $78.75 for members, $99 for residents, and $112.50 for non-residents. Find this event on Facebook.

Music From the Heart Applications

The Livonia Arts Commission is accepting band applications to perform in the 2025 Music From the Heart concert series. The series will run 7-9 p.m. on Thursdays July 10 to Aug. 28.

The Kirksey Recreation Center

Livonia Parks and Recreation Holiday Hours

The Kirksey Recreation Center and Senior Center have special hours for the holiday season. The Kirksey Recreation Center will be open on Christmas Eve, Tuesday, Dec. 24, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., but closed on Christmas Day, Wednesday, Dec. 25. The Civic Park Senior Center and Greenmead Historical Park will be closed both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Additionally, City of Livonia offices, all branches of the Livonia Public Library, and the 16th District Court will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 24, and Wednesday, Dec. 25. Trash pick-up will occur as regularly scheduled on Christmas Eve. There will be no collection on Christmas Day, and pick-up will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.

New exterior wall for Livonia Senior Wellness Center is up

As the exterior walls for the new Livonia Senior Wellness Center continue to rise along the east side of the Kirksey Recreation Center, the exterior walls for the new West Gym are expected to be built over the next few weeks.

The Main Gyms will close in 2025 once the new West Gym is complete. The full project is expected to be completed in December 2025. You can visit LivoniaBuilt.org to see the specific timeline for each phase. For more details, check out our Frequently Asked Questions.
