Ted's Talks

This isn't a TED Talk, it's Ted's Talks! Thursday, May 8, at 6 p.m. is your next chance to attend a session with Ted Davis.

Ted's Talks are an open forum for questions posed to Ted, the Superintendent of Livonia Parks and Recreation. Ted will answer questions and provide updates on capital projects, operations, and programs in Livonia Parks and Recreation. Ted's Talks are held 6 p.m. on the first or second Thursday of each month through August. That means you'll have a chance to ask questions May 8, June 12, July 10, and August 7.

No registration or fee is required. Just show up in the conference room of the Kirksey Recreation Center and ask questions!

Earth Explorers: Seed and Soil Science

All 10-15 year olds are invited to join us for an exciting, hands-on workshop at the Friends Meeting House in Greenmead Historical Park where they'll dig into the world of seeds and soils 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 20!

Participants will discover the different types of soil and explore which one gives seeds the best chance to grow. You'll get to touch and compare dry and wet soil textures, then plant seeds in different soil types to test their growth potential. Best of all, you'll take home your planted seeds to observe and discover if your chosen soil is the key to success. Come get your hands dirty and grow your curiosity! Advance registration is required for $5/participant.

Livonia Senior Wellness Center being constructed

#RecreatingTheRec

As the exterior walls for both the new Livonia Senior Wellness Center and new West Gym stand tall, construction crews are working on some interior elements while fending off the cold weather. New roofs and doorways have been appearing. Interior renderings are available at Livonia.gov/1899.

The Main Gyms will close in 2025 once the new West Gym is complete. The full project is expected to be completed in December 2025. You can visit LivoniaBuilt.org to see the specific timeline for each phase. For more details, check out our Frequently Asked Questions.
