Exercise Machines at The Rec

#RecreatingTheRec

In lieu of a full Kirksey Recreation Center closure this year, The Rec will partially close several areas and gyms in the coming weeks. Both MAC Gyms will be closed Aug. 22-23, and both MAC Gyms and the FitHub will be closed Aug. 26-29, with the East FitHub remaining closed until the Livonia Senior Wellness Center is complete. Other facilities will continue operations uninterrupted. The LivoniaBuilt website includes each of these dates and the expanse of each upcoming closure.

Construction began July 16, with exterior site work. The Rec will be closing the East FitHub (Strength Hub) Aug. 26, so interior construction can begin shortly afterward. The Main Gyms will close in July 2025 once the new West Gym is complete. The full project is expected to be completed in December 2025. You can visit our website to see the specific timeline for each phase. For more details, check out our Frequently Asked Questions.

Stay up to date on construction at the Kirksey Recreation Center and Livonia Senior Wellness Center at LivoniaBuilt.org. You've already subscribed to this e-newsletter, so make sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram and bookmark the website for all the latest details.

Bentley Marker Dedication

From 1947 to 1985, Bentley High School had its doors open to students! After closing, the history and memories remain. You can join us at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15, to see Bentley High School receive a Historical Marker after years of effort by Bentley High School graduates and the Livonia Historical Society! This momentous occasion will be held at the Kirksey Recreation Center.
