Tour de Livonia

You can register today for the 3rd Annual Tour de Livonia charity bike ride! This ride for a cause will be on the morning of Sunday, Sept. 8, at Bicentennial Park! Two routes are available for registrants.

The full route is 20 miles, and cyclists will take off at 9 a.m. This route is only for those ages 16 and older, and registration costs $50 for each cyclist. Riders are asked to stay between 9-12 mph for the duration of the ride.

The family route is seven miles long and perfect for riders of all ages. Registration for this course is $40 per participant. The minimum speed is 5 mph. Cyclists on the family route will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Day-of registration will be $65 for the full route and $55 for the family route. All participants must wear a helmet.

Stuff-a-Pet: Adopt-a-Pet

Join us 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, at The Rec for this installment in our Stuff-a-Pet series! For $17-$27, depending on residency and membership, children ages 4-10 will get to stuff their own toys to take home. There will also be themed crafts, activities, and games to match.

This month, you can join us to adopt a dachshund, bunny, monkey, or unicorn, but available stuffies and crafts will be available on a first-come, fifirst-serve basis, and there are limited numbers of each animal. An adult must accompany a participating child. Go to our Facebook event and register online.

Learn more about sharp cheddars and savory swisses at our cheese class! You'll embark on a mouthwatering journey through the world of cheese 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26. You can discover the origins, types, and flavors of various kinds of cheese while learning expert techniques for tasting and serving. Delight your senses with samples, expand your cheese knowledge, and become an aficionado in one evening! This event is at the Alexander Blue House.

Advance registration is required for $25/resident, $27/non-resident

Construction Machinery at The Rec

Construction began July 16, with exterior site work.The Rec closed the East FitHub (Strength Hub) Aug. 26, so interior construction can begin Sept. 3. The Main Gyms will close in July 2025 once the new West Gym is complete. The full project is expected to be completed in December 2025.
