Aquatic Area Rules
In order to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all users of the facilities, the pool staff respectfully asks that all users be aware of and adhere to the following policies:
Important Aquatic Area Rules
- Always soap shower before swimming.
- Street shoes are prohibited on the pool deck. All users must wear sandals, water shoes, or deck specific shoes.
- Glass of any kind is strictly prohibited from being brought into any aquatic area.
- An appropriate bathing suit is required for swimming. Please do not wear street clothes or cotton based material in the water.
- Food and drink are not permitted within the pool area. Plastic water bottles are allowed. Chewing gum is prohibited.
- Youth 14 and younger must be directly supervised by a responsible person at least 16 years of age.
- Avoid water activities if you have had diarrhea or a contagious disease in the past two weeks.
- Children who are not toilet trained must wear a tight fitting diaper cover or appropriate lined bathing suit over a disposable or reusable swim diaper.
- Only coast guard approved life jackets and floatation devices built into the bathing suit are allowed. The use of these items requires a parent/guardian to be within arms reach of the youth at all times.
- Toys and all inflatables are not permitted within the pool area.
- Smoking is strictly prohibited in all areas of the facility.
- Use of mono-fins and mermaid tails is not permitted.
- Please No: running, rough play, climbing on or hanging from the features, foul language, hypoxic training, holding of breath, spitting, pollution of the water, hanging on pool dividers/ropes, jumping or diving from the deck into the inner tubes, flips or tricks into the pool, and climbing/jumping over raised pool walls.
- Lazy River users under 48 inches tall must be accompanied by a parent or responsible person at least 16 years old. 1 mile of the lazy river is 44 laps total.
- Diving of any kind is not allowed in the leisure pool area. Patrons may dive in designated areas of the lap pool.
- Patrons are responsible for recognizing their own limitations and acting in the best interest of their own safety.
- Please report all injuries to pool staff.
- The Livonia Community Recreation Center is not responsible for personal belongings lost, stolen, or damaged. Please use the lockers at your own digression.
Waterslide RULES
- All riders must be 48" or taller and be able to reach the stairs without assistance to slide alone. They must be able to reach the tube handles simultaneously without assistance.
- Riders may wear a Coat Guard-approved life jacket but must ride in a double tube with someone 16 years old or older.
- Riders must stay on the inner tube the entire way down without falling out of the tube, turning themselves around, or stopping.
- Slide feet first only, on back or sitting, keeping hands within the tube at all times.
- Rapid succession of sliding is not permitted.
- Please do not throw any items from stairs or slide at any time.
- Goggles, eyeglasses, watches, and metal objects are not allowed on the slide.
- People with heart conditions, back problems, or pregnant are advised not to use the slide.
- Please exit the plunge area immediately.
HOT TUB RULES
- Always take a soap shower before entering hot tub.
- You must be at least 14 years old to enter unsupervised.
- Youth 11 to 13 years old are permitted with direct parent/guardian supervision.
- Children 10 and under are not allowed in the hot tub.
- Avoid putting your head underwater.
- Pregnant women, elderly, and those with heart conditions should consult a doctor before using the hot tub.
- Dot not exceed 10 minutes in the hot tub. Long exposure may result in nausea, dizziness, or fainting.
- No more than 18 people may use the hot tub at one time. Pool staff reserve the right to set any age limit deemed necessary to limit overcrowding.
- Please observe all other Aquatic Area rules.
Competition LAP POOL RULES
- Diving is allowed only in designated areas, please watch for the movable floor depth markers.
- During lap swim, please observe lane speeds and swim in a circle pattern. Stay to the right side and swim in a counter clockwise direction.
- When passing others, please gently tap the foot of the swimmer ahead of you and then pass to the center of the lane. Watch for on-coming swimmers.
- Fins and paddles are permitted in designated lanes; we ask you limit your use of these items to 30 minutes if others are waiting.
- Grabbing or hanging onto the lane lines is not permitted. Swimmers who need to rest should sit on the side of the pool or hold onto the edge of the pool.
- Swimming underneath the bulkhead is strictly prohibited.
- 1 mile of the lap pool is 71 lengths for a 25 yard distance.
- Use of the bulkhead to enter or exit the lap pool is not allowed. Please use the far side with the diving blocks or edges of the pool.
- Use of the diving blocks and board is not permitted.
- View the lap pool schedule. Lane availability is subject to change at any point.
- Use of mono-fins is not permitted.
- Please observe all other aquatic area rules.
