Transportation Resources for Seniors
SENIOR TRANSPORTATION
Services listed below are local options available to seniors. Some are offered independently by third-party organizations and are not coordinated by the City of Livonia. Additional resources can be found here.
SENIOR CENTER BUS SERVICE
The senior center buses provide curb-to-curb service within the City limit on a donation basis. Rides are available to local shopping districts, grocery stores, Westland Mall (first and third Thursdays of the month at 10:30 a.m.) and to the Senior Center. Service hours for the Senior Center are Monday through Friday. Advance reservations are required 24 hours in advance. Reservations accepted at (734) 466-2700.
DOCTOR’S VAN
Doctor’s Van is available Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The Civic Park Senior Center offers a shuttle to doctors’ offices within the City of Livonia and up to one mile outside the city limits. Please contact (734) 466-2700 to make your advance reservation.
Fees
There is no charge for this service although donations are gratefully accepted. This service fills up quickly, so please call as soon as you know the date and time of your appointment.
Additional Information
All vehicles are wheelchair equipped. Age 60 and over. Reservations accepted up to 90 days in advance. Maximum of two rides per week. You must make your appointment so that you are able to get home before/no later than 2:30 p.m. Our vehicles do not provide transportation to or from nursing homes or assisted living facilities. We do not transport medical emergencies.
LIVONIA COMMUNITY TRANSIT
Livonia Community Transit (LCT) is a transportation service for residents 60 years old or older and those who are disabled. Livonia Transit will pick up passengers from their homes and transport them anywhere within the city limits of Livonia.
Additional Information
The cost is $2 each way. Exact fare or ticket required because drivers cannot make the change. Hours of service are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and 1:15 - 6:30 p.m and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Reservations are necessary and are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. LIVONIA VETERAN NEEDING TRANSPORTATION
If you need assistance to the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor, Livonia Community Transit (LCT) has expanded its service to assist qualifying veterans who need to get to the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor for medical appointments. Livonia Community Transit will pick the veteran up from their home and take them to Meijer in Westland where they will board a shuttle bus to Ann Arbor.
Schedule
The VA Shuttle departs from Westland three times a day Monday through Friday, at 9:05 a.m, 1:15 p.m. and 5:10 p.m. The cost is $2 each way. Livonia Community Transit staff will assist veterans in coordinating their shuttle service. Call (734) 466-2700.
