Wedding Ceremony Information

We’re honored to be part of your special day. Below is everything you need to know to prepare for your wedding ceremony at the 16th District Court:

1. Marriage License Requirements

Before your ceremony, you must obtain a valid marriage license from your county of residence. For Wayne County residents, detailed information can be found here:
Wayne County Marriage Licenses

2. Scheduling Your Ceremony

Wedding ceremonies are held Wednesdays at 11:00 AM, with availability for two ceremonies each week. Reservations are required and are typically made in advance to ensure your preferred date.

3. Pre-Ceremony Meeting

We recommend meeting with us beforehand to discuss your ceremony preferences and finalize payment. This helps ensure a smooth and personalized experience.

4. Required Documentation

We will prepare all necessary legal documents in advance. Couples must bring valid identification and any additional paperwork required for the marriage license.

5. Ceremony Day Details

  • Witnesses: You must bring two witnesses, as the court does not provide them. Witnesses must be listed prior to the ceremony.

  • Arrival Time: Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled ceremony.

  • Ceremony Format: Ceremonies are conducted back-to-back by our magistrate with a brief transition between each.

  • Outdoor Option: Weather permitting, outdoor ceremonies are available.

  • Wedding Arbour: A complimentary arbour adorned with silk flowers is provided for all ceremonies.

6. After the Ceremony

Following the ceremony, we’ll assist with signing the marriage certificate and guide you on how to obtain official copies.
